Some wedding days just feel easy, and Tyler and Kaitlynn’s was one of them.
Bella Salla Event Center in Tiffin, Iowa is a beautiful venue and everyone there did a great job of accommodating us with anything we needed, including a giant A-frame ladder for the large group photo (seen towards the end of this gallery)! :)
From the beginning, there was a really relaxed energy to the day. Nothing felt overly staged or forced — just two people who were genuinely happy to be getting married, surrounded by the people they wanted there to celebrate with them.
And those are some of my favorite weddings to photograph.
Of course, we’ll make time for the photos everyone expects on a wedding day — the family photos, wedding party, portraits of the two of you looking ridiculously good together. But so much of what I love happens in between those things.
It’s the laughing while we’re supposed to be taking the “serious” photo. The look across the room that nobody else notices. Your friends being completely incapable of behaving themselves for five consecutive minutes. The hugs, the nerves, the inside jokes, and all of the little interactions you probably won’t even realize happened until you see the photos later.
Tyler and Kaitlynn gave me plenty of those moments.
Their wedding felt like them, and that’s ultimately what I want the photographs to feel like, too. Not a perfectly manufactured version of your wedding day, but a really beautiful record of what it actually felt like to be there.
So here are a few of my favorites from Tyler and Kaitlynn’s day — the portraits, the people, the laughter, and everything in between.
